Entry Form Table

23/9/2012

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed the downward trend in the availability of entry forms.  It has been getting increasing difficult to get a good supply for the EF table at the meetings and the one yesterday was the most sparsely populated we've ever had.

We've tried to come up with the fairest system possible for the distribution of forms and I think the current system, whilst not perfect, has been working quite well.  However, what I noticed yesterday is that even though we do hold forms back for each group that comes up there really wasn't enough to go around.

We don't want to go back to the free-for-all that we used to have, so we're calling for ideas from all of you on how we could best organise things so everyone gets a fair chance of forms, or do you think we should just stick with the way we are doing it?  All ideas will be considered.

Thanks

How about drawing a ticket from a dish as you hand in your forms? You would not get the first come/first served scenario that we get at the moment, and you could choose to allow anyone bringing more than most, two tickets.
You would still not always have enough to go round but at least you wouldn't miss out because you were there late.

Sorry to put in 2 suggestions but I did have another thought.
How about doing the entry forms in the same way as we do at the moments, but do them as soon as everyone is seated. That way, if you pick up forms that you later decide you are not going to use, you could put them back on the table for later people to collect.

I like the idea of people drawing a ticket so it isn't first come first served, that way anyone who is late bringing forms yet still brings a lot themselves will get a fair chance of getting something good in exchange. As it stands, the last person to the table may bring the best forms, yet they will be one of the last to get to the table to choose forms and not have much to choose from.

It is difficult as the number of actual forms and leaflets is dropping. There are still plenty comps about - possibly more than ever - but they are on packs, on posters, on websites and even advertised on TV. Oh well, it saves a few trees!

How about picking a ticket at random as in the above suggestions but limiting the number of forms each person can take eg 10 . Then when everyone has picked up 10 forms each it is a free for all.

I'm quite happy with the way it is now but I don't mind if something better/different is decided.

Hi all

My thoughts on allocating forms for people to collect at meetings:

I can't see that there's a fair way that will suit everyone and the way we have by giving people a ticket as they hand them in is not necessarily the best way, as we acknowledge.

However, what to do?

At the moment we are called to the entry form table according to when we hand in the forms so it could happen that someone could bring many efs but come later/last minute to the meeting and so be called last and possibly get very few forms in exchange.

So maybe we could vary the way we do it from time to time to make it more random.

For instance - call by alphabetical surnames - sometimes from A-Z another time from Z-A, or M-Z then L-A

OR maybe have a different colour ticket for people who bring, say, more than 8? or 10? forms and those people could be called first.

Just thinking. Not an easy one.

Lovely to see you all on Sat.
